Herbal Home Products
Make less toxic and inexpensive cleaning products for your home. These cleaners, made with fairly common ingredients, are simple to make and have a less adverse affect on the environment than many you can purchase. Four different cleaning products will be made in this workshop, and suggestions for additional products will be given. (small additional charge for supplies per person depending on number)
A Baker's Dozen of Herbs
13 Herbs to Know and Grow - Learn about thirteen herbs that are useful in the household - the best varieties of each, background on the herb and how it can be used - growing tips on herbs and how best to enjoy them. Herbal refreshments included.
Putting up your Herbal Harvest
(suggested for May through September as fresh herbs are required)
Come and share the bounty of the garden! Learn to make herbal butters, vinegars and other treats and enjoy the pleasures of herbs throughout the year. We will show you how to preserve your herbs for better flavor, and how to get the most from your garden. Tips and suggestions on how to use these herbal concoctions will be given. Refreshments provided.
A Seventeenth Century Still Room and Gardens
Learn about the history of herbs and their use by a seventeenth century Lady of the Manor. A costumed interpretation of how herbs were grown, used, and prepared and how early herbal knowledge was disseminated through early herbal books and family manuscripts.
Herbal Liqueurs A Tasting
(Alcoholic beverages - Must be 21) We explore how to prepare herbal based liqueurs and drinks. Many commercial alcoholic beverages are made with herbs, and you can make your own with little effort. A selection of liqueurs will be tasted and recipes and sources will be given.
A Pressed Flower Workshop
Learn how to press flowers and use them in decorative ways. Each participant will make a pressed flower bookmark and note card. (small additional charge for supplies per person depending on number)
